Improved Properties

Engine covers and housings molded by flexible polyurethane foam provide the function as an effective seal containing critical gases and fluids. They also perform many additional functions such as vibration isolation, pressure regulation of blow-by-gases, the extraction and return of oil-mist from blow-by-gases, and attaching locations to secure other components. And most importantly, they provide protection for passengers and pedestrians in the case of collision, saving lives.

As engines are getting smaller and more powerful, the market is looking for flexible polyurethane foams that can sustain increased temperatures for longer periods of time. Nofia flame retardants enable manufacturers’ of flexible polyurethane foams to reach these high temperature, long-duration requirements (150°C for more than 7 days) without adding dusty graphite powder and reducing the concern of clogging the manufacturing lines with graphite additives.
